Realtor.ca is NOT MLS

My name is Lisa McDonald, Sales Representative and Team Leader of the HeartNHomeTeam at Keller Williams in Mississauga and I am the official Mississauga real estate blogger for ReBuildYourCommunity.com. As the market is getting busier and the inventory remains low the number of people who still believe that they are getting the latest information on current listings are growing and they become more and more frustrated! I have SO many people call me regarding my great Mississauga homes for sale and have to tell them that it sold yesterday or the day before and they are shocked and tell me they JUST saw it on mls! NO - it is NOT MLS. Realtor.ca is the "marketing" arm of our stratus system which is the Multiple Listing Service and it sometimes takes a few days for information to get to Realtor.ca. The nme of the site was actually changed from MLS.ca to Realtor.ca to prevent this sort of misunderstanding. As the market gets hotter and the frustration level goes up...please speak to your realtor and he/she will arrange for you to get "alerts" AS SOON AS the new Mississauga homes for sale hit the market. You can also register yourself at sites such as this....www.findhomesinmississauga.com Set yourself up to get alerts directly from MLS at the same time as all realtors get notified. This will save you much disappointment when you see the Mississauga home of your dreams listed for sale. The good ones always sell quickly so be one step ahead of the others. I have been helping people achieve their real estate dreams for almost 30 years in Mississauga and would love to help you. So, if you have any questions, please ask as this is an interactive site and your questions can be answered here. This is Lisa McDonald, Sales Representative at Keller Williams Real Estate Associates, 905-812-8123 www.soldwithheart.com TO SEARCH THE LATEST MISSISSAUGA HOMES FOR SALE go to www.findhomesinmississauga.com. Feds Give One Million Dollars to Streetsville Real Estate

Well, no there isn't going to be a new monster home in Streetsville! But Streetsville was awarded one million dollars for revitalizing some very special Streetsville real estate! MP Brad Butt formally presented the City of Mississauga with the one million dollar cheque (well actually it was $990,000) but one million sounds so much better:) These funds came from the federal government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund. This money will go towards the "revitalization" of the famous square in the centre of Streetsville.
George Carlson, Ward 11 City Councillor said "We want to turn the square into more of a people place". The plan is to perhaps close things down on the weekends for various festivals or move the farmer's market there. Mayor McCallion believes that the cenotaph should remain the centrepiece of the square which was originally built in 1926. I have often had the same thoughts on this as Mayor McCallion when I see the skateboarders and kids dropping ice cream on it. The honoured should have more respect given and perhaps more education as to the importance of this piece of history in the midst of Streetsville. Mayor McCallion also believes that the war memorial should be moved to a more "sacred" position in the square. What are your thoughts on this? Let's talk. Glen Abbey is a growing community with so much to offer. This lovely residential community is home to about 23,000 residents and is part of the Town of Oakville.

What the Seller has to say about living in Glen Abbey:
"There are miles and miles of hiking trails within the community...easy access to Toronto, and Hamilton...also all of the area airports, and a new hospital coming up. Across the street there is soccer and baseball all summer long, and people often set off fireworks. I have often sat on my deck with a glass of wine enjoying the show. This process is almost making me question my reasons for leaving...LOL"

A few of the Seller's favourite area restaurants, take-out spots, and places to shop:
When you're feeling like a great bowl of pasta or wood-fired pizza, head to Il Fornello, which has long been considered one of the best Italian restaurants in Toronto, Richmond Hill, and Oakville. If you're looking for somewhere to watch the "big game" or just to meet friends for a casual night out, then head to the Tin Cup Sports Bar & Grill where one of their signature dishes, including Jack Bread, Twisted Carbonara, or Matador burger, is sure to please! If it's a quick convenient Chinese feast delivered to your door, call Red Chillie...considered "the best of the Best" by some of the top restaurant critics in the industry.

If you'd rather stay in and cook at home, there is a multitude of fantastic grocery stores just a short drive away. Monastery Bakery has become an Oakville landmark. Since opening it's doors in 1990, it offers it's customers an exceptional deli and cheese counter, hot and fresh take-out meals, delectable pastries and cakes...not to mention dozens of traditional and speciality breads. Urgent Information About the Health of Your Mississauga Home

Over the years, the way of conducting real estate business has changed and improved in many ways and one of the "standard" practices that has been incorporated into most every transaction in an effort to protect my clients is a home inspection.
Recently however, I have come across an urgent health issue that everyone should be aware of.  Let me tell you what happened.
I sold a beautiful home to a lovely couple.  This home was in a great area, the home had been beautifully maintained with newer roof, newer windows and all in all a very "loved" home.  We performed a home inspection and a few items came up that were dealt with but it was moisture free and generally in great state of repair...and we decided to go ahead with the purchase.
Months later my clients were ready to paint one of the bedrooms and removed the baseboard only to find evidence of MOULD under the baseboard.
I immediately arranged for the home inspector to come back for another inspection of the area and also an indoor airquality test to be performed.  I contacted Mark Connolly of Mold Assessment Group GTA who performed an air quality test only to find an extraordinarily high presence of the very worst of moulds/molds!  Now here is the scary part...there was no moisture present in the walls at all and no evidence of black mould apparent on the wall!  Both the home inspector and the mold inspector performed moisture testing!
Apparently, a single occurence of moisture perhaps a one time leak...can be responsible for mold and just the moisture in the air can cause it to grow!
Here is my advice...have an indoor air quality test performed on your home for mould/mold and/or allergens.  You just never know what may be lurking in the walls, floors, ceilings.  There are many moulds that are completely harmless but some or not.  Protect your family and your home by having an indoor air quality test performed.
Mark Connolly from Mold Assessment Group GTA is a great contact as his ONLY business is testing and he does not perform any remediation so there is no conflict of interest.  Contact me if you would like more information.
